MTH 136 - Pre-Calculus I: Algebra Credit Hours: 3 Core 42: MOTR MATH 130 - Pre-Calculus Algebra
Focus is on the analytic, graphical and numerical representations of functions along with higher algebraic reasoning. Topics include: the library of algebraic functions (polynomial, rational, exponential and logarithmic functions), conic sections, systems of equations and inequalities and matrices. Intended to prepare students for fields of study that would require a high level of algebraic reasoning or Calculus. A student who takes MTH 136 and MTH 138 receives credit toward graduation for only one of the courses. Satisfies the general education requirements for Quantitative Literacy for the Associate of Arts in General Studies degree but will not count toward a mathematics major or minor. A grade of C or better is required in this course to take MTH 137 , MTH 285 or MTH 287
Prerequisite(s): Grade of C or better in MTH 103 or MTH 113 or appropriate placement score. Lecture Hours: 2-3 Lab Hours: 0-2
